Destination festival promoter CID Presents has announced plans to move forward with its Mexican destination events featuring Luke Bryan and Hootie and the Blowfish in January, despite the recent cancellation of Dead & Company‘s Playing in the Sand event.
Playing in the Sand, which was set to take place between January 7-10 and 13-16 in Riviera Cancun, Mexico, was canceled due to the surge in COVID-19 cases across the globe.
Meanwhile, Billboard reports that CID Presents intends to proceed with their other January events at the same location, including Luke Bryan’s Crash My Playa, which is scheduled for January 19-22, and Hootie and the Blowfish’s Hootiefest: The Big Splash, scheduled for January 26-29.
“As we all know this is an ever-evolving situation and the rise and fall of COVID-19 over the past several months has been outside of our control. We are continuing to monitor the latest guidelines and recommendations from both the U.S. & Mexican governments as well as our on-site medical teams,” a statement from the producer reads.
