Former YES Keyboardist Rick Wakeman Announces Final U.S. Solo Tour

Former YES keyboardist Rick Wakeman has announced his final U.S. solo tour.

Wakeman shared the first leg of dates for the tour, called The Final Solo Tour, which runs from March 19 through March 29. Tickets are on sale now.

He will then fly to Mexican and South American cities and return later in the year for the second leg.

During the concerts, Wakeman will perform “YES music and other favorites.” The tour will include a 30-minute instrumental session titled “Yessonata,” featuring “YES themes and melodies, woven into sonata form.”

“I always planned to stop touring by my 77th birthday,” Wakeman said in a statement, “for those of you who wish to send me a card, it’s May 18th! – but there is so much to fit in before then that I’m having to make plans now, and so my final one-man shows will have to cease by that date.”

Wakeman said that this will be his final set of solo performances, and he intends to “concentrate on composing, recording and collaborating with other musicians.”

Before the start of the U.S. Tour, Wakeman has scheduled a number of U.K. dates in February.
