Iconic girl group TLC have achieved their first-ever billion-streaming song on Spotify with the BMG songwriter Kevin “She’kspere” Briggs-produced hit “No Scrubs.”
“No Scrubs,” originally released in 1999, was TLC’s third No. 1 single and has continued to be a fan-favorite in the decades since with numerous reimagined covers, remixes, and samples including Ed Sheeran‘s “Shape of You,” “SOS” from Avicii featuring Aloe Blacc, and more recently, Brent Faiyaz‘s “Tim’s Intro.”
The hit song would go on to be nominated for eight Grammy Awards at the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards and resulted in a Grammy win for Briggs for Best R&B Song. In the same year, Briggs was also nominated for the Destiny’s Child hit, “Bills Bills, Bills” in the same category as well as nominations for Album of the Year for TLC’s FanMail, and Record of the Year also for “No Scrubs.”
Briggs has worked with many of the biggest stars in music, including Destiny’s Child, Pink, Whitney Houston, Blu Cantrell, Usher, and with Ariana Grande on the 2019 hit “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored” which earned him an ASCAP Pop Award.
