Noel Gallagher Says Glastonbury Getting 'A Bit Woke,' 'Kind Of Preachy'

Noel Gallagher Says Glastonbury Getting 'A Bit Woke,' 'Kind Of Preachy'

Noel Gallagher says the Glastonbury festival is getting "a bit woke now" and "kind of preachy."

Speaking to The Sun, the former Oasis guitarist said, "Don't get me wrong, I f---ing love Glastonbury. It's getting a bit woke now, that place, and a bit kind of preachy and a bit virtue-signaling. I don't like it in music - little f---ing idiots waving flags around and making political statements and bands taking the stage and saying, 'Hey guys, isn't war terrible, yeah? Let's all boo war. F--- the Tories man,' and all that. It's like, look - play your f---ing tunes and get off."

Gallagher regularly attends Glastonbury as a festivalgoer, including this year's event, and made his solo performance debut there in 2022 fronting Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.

"It's too much. Donate all your money to the cause - that's it, stop yapping about it," he continued. "Let's just say for instance the world is in a bit of a f---ed up place and you're all in a field in Glastonbury. What's the problem with that? I haven't got a problem with it. I guess if you're 18 and you're middle class you might have a problem with it. but what's all the kids in a field at Glastonbury going to do about it?"

Coldplay Reportedly Forced To Pay Millions In Settlement With Ex-Manager

Coldplay Reportedly Forced To Pay Millions In Settlement With Ex-Manager

Coldplay have reportedly been forced to pay a seven-figure sum to their former manager Dave Holmes after he sued the band for 10 million pounds.

The band parted ways with Holmes back in 2022 after over two decades, leading to a lengthy legal battle.

In 2023, Holmes claimed he was owed 10 million pounds in unpaid commission for Coldplay's tenth and eleventh albums, which are both yet to be released.

However, the band countersued for 14 million pounds, claiming Holmes lost control of budgeting for their Music of the Spheres tour and overspent by 17.5 million pounds.

According to The Sun, paperwork filed at the High Court confirmed that in May, the band agreed an undisclosed seven-figure settlement to prevent private details being made public in court.

Phil Sherrell, Holmes's lawyer, told Variety, "Holmes successfully managed Coldplay for more than 22 years, steering them to be one of the most successful bands in history. Now Coldplay is refusing to pay him what he is owed."

Coldplay Share New Single 'Feelslikeimfallinginlove'

Coldplay are back with a new single "feelslikeimfallinginlove."

"feelslikeimfallinginlove" is the band's first new music since 2021's Music of the Spheres and is also the lead single off their upcoming new album, Moon Music.

Chris Martin sings, "Oh, it feels like I'm fallin' in love/ Maybe for the first time Baby, it's my mind you blow/ It feels like I'm fallin' in love/ You're throwin' me a lifeline/ This is for a lifetime, I know."

Coldplay originally debuted "feelslikeimfallinginlove" during their tour stop in Budapest earlier this week. The track was produced by super producer Max Martin.

Moon Music is due on October 4th via Atlantic Records. The album, which was announced earlier this week, will set new standards for sustainability, with each LP made from 100% recycled plastic bottles.

The band has collaborated with long-time partners The Ocean Cleanup to create the Notebook Edition EcoRecord LP. Scorpions Biopic 'Wind Of Change' In The Works

Scorpions Biopic 'Wind Of Change' In The Works

A biopic on German rock icons Scorpions, titled Wind of Change, is in the works from ESX Entertainment.

According to Deadline, Ali Afshar's ESX Entertainment has signed on to develop and produce the musical biopic Wind of Change, which will tell the story of "three unlikely friends whose passion for rock n' roll fueled their rise from the ashes of post-World War II Germany to the global stardom in the 1980s as the multi-platinum rock band Scorpions."

"The Scorpions' music has penetrated our culture in a big way," Afshar tells Deadline. "There is an evocative quality to their sound that is unmatched in the genre, which is one of the reasons hits like 'Rock You Like a Hurricane' and 'Still Loving You' continue to get so much airplay and fill movie soundtracks, and their music continues to connect with a new generation of fans across the globe."

Production on Wind of Change is expected to begin in Europe later this year, with a planned 2025 release, which will also be the band's 60th anniversary.

The movie's title comes from the band's 1991 global hit single, which was released after the failed coup that would lead to the end of the Soviet Union.

Queen Catalog Reportedly To Be Acquired By Sony Music For Over $1 Billion

Queen Catalog Reportedly To Be Acquired By Sony Music For Over $1 Billion

Queen have reportedly agreed to sell their recording, publishing and other rights to Sony Music for a record-smashing $1.27 billion.

According to Hits, the deal also includes name and likeness rights, potentially opening the door to musicals, commercial and film placements, merchandising and other money-making opportunities.

Complicating the deal is the fact that Disney Music Group owns Queen's recorded music catalog in North America, which it acquired at some point in the 2000s.

Disney and Universal Music Group will permanently retain the rights to distribute Queen's records in North America, but the band's share of the royalties will now go to Sony Music.

For the rest of the world, those rights are expected to transfer from current owners UMG to Sony Music in either 2026 or 2027.

According to Variety, the only revenue not covered in the deal is for live performances, which founding members Brian May and Roger Taylor, who still actively tour with singer Adam Lambert, will retain. Bassist John Deacon retired shortly after the 1991 death of founding singer Freddie Mercury.

The band's 2018 autobiographical film Bohemian Rhapsody earned over $900 million worldwide.

System Of A Down's Serj Tankian Has 'Zero Respect' For Imagine Dragons After Azerbaijan Show

System Of A Down's Serj Tankian Has 'Zero Respect' For Imagine Dragons After Azerbaijan Show

In a new interview with Metal Hammer, System Of A Down's Serj Tankian said he has "zero respect" for Imagine Dragons, because the band ignored his concerns and went on to perform in Azerbaijan.

"I have zero respect for those guys. They're not good human beings," Tankian said. "If you are that blind to justice that you will go play a show in a country that's starving another country, illegally... I don't know what to say about you as a human being."

In a letter to Imagine Dragons last summer, Tankian asked them to reconsider playing a show in Baku, arguing that playing there could be viewed as an endorsement of Azerbaijan's authoritarian President Ilham Aliyerv. He wrote that proceeding with the gig at Baku Olympic Stadium "would help whitewash the dictatorial regime's image."

"I really feel that performing in Azerbaijan would have a negative impact on your brand as well," the singer cautioned in the letter. "I'm confident that you can decipher all the facts for yourselves to decide whether to cancel your concert."

Tankian told Metal Hammer that he was disappointed and angry about Imagine Dragon's decision to ignore all entreaties on the issue.

"I don't know these guys, but who are these people?" he says. "I don't understand that type of thinking."
